Exhibition: “LASAL” by Guillermo Fornes
Location: Exhibition Hall, Lonja del Pescado, Paseo Almirante Julio Guillén Tato, Alicante.
LASAL by Guillermo Fornes is an artistic and emotional exploration of the elements — earth, fire, water, and salt — through the lens of Land Art. Combining painting, engraving, and experimental techniques, Fornes uses salt as a symbolic material, expressing nature’s duality and evoking ancestral and elemental connections.
The exhibition includes 24 canvases and eight salt pool-inspired tables, filled with fine salt and pink rock, referencing the salt mountains of Ibiza’s Ses Salines Natural Park, where the project originated.
Beyond its poetic and symbolic dimensions, LASAL also examines the social and ecological relevance of salt production, particularly in Santa Pola and Torrevieja, key environmental landmarks in the Valencian Community. Using materials like gunpowder and fire, Fornes pushes artistic boundaries to evoke a deep sensory experience of origin, transformation, and natural balance.
