Hispana Lyrica Concert – Sounds of the New World

As a complement to the exhibition ‘From Word to Music’, the vocal and instrumental quartet from Salamanca, Hispana Lyrica, presents Sones del Nuevo Mundo at the Castle of Santa Bárbara >Sones del Nuevo Mundo, a journey through jarabes, yaravíes and American songs from the 18th and 19th centuries. The programme rescues a little-known Hispanic American and Spanish musical heritage, combining the cultured and the popular, with melodies and dances that were part of the salons of Lima, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Havana, Madrid, Paris and London.

The concert offers a journey through sound, bringing the richness and diversity of the secular vocal music of the period to today’s audience. The performance will take place on Saturday 8 November at 6.30 pm in the Aljibe Renacentista (Baluarte de Santa Ana) of the fortress. Free admission until full capacity is reached.
