A DOG-FRIENDLY BEACH IN ALICANTE

Agua Amarga Beach, located north of Urbanova Beach, is Alicante’s designated “dog-friendly” spot. Specially designed for you and your furry companion to enjoy the Mediterranean together, it offers dog-adapted services during the summer season, ensuring a comfortable and relaxing experience for both pets and their owners.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Protect Your Pet from the Sun and Heat
Avoid peak sun exposure hours (12 PM – 4 PM).
Provide shade and prevent exhaustion.
Use sunscreen on dogs with little hair.

RECOMMENDATIONS FOR SWIMMING

Respect the flag signals (red: prohibited, yellow: caution, green: safe).
Choose shallow areas with no currents.
Do not force your dog to swim if they do not like it.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

Watch out for currents, waves, and the presence of jellyfish.
Pick up after your pet and use the off-leash area.
Supervise your dog to avoid disturbing other visitors.
Hydration and Post-Beach Care
Bring fresh water and a drinking bowl.
Bathe them with fresh water at the end of the stay to remove the sand and salt.

SAFETY AND COMPLIANCE

Authorities may require measures from dog owners to prevent disturbances and problems.

REQUIREMENTS

Respect the natural environment.
Avoid disturbing other visitors.
Immediately clean up after your dog.
Maximum two dogs per adult, one if it is considered as potentially dangerous.
Keep your dog under control at all times.
Do not allow digging.
Potentially dangerous dogs must wear a muzzle and remain leashed.
Aggressive or unsocialized dogs are not allowed.
Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Dogs in heat, sick dogs, or puppies under 4 months old are not allowed.
Dogs must be registered, microchipped, and and have up-to-date health records.
A leash and collar must be available, and excessive barking should be avoided.
