Fogueres de Sant Joan 2026: Official Opening Address and Inaugural Events

Les Fogueres de Sant Joan (The Bonfires of Saint John) are Alicante’s main annual festivities, officially designated as being of International Tourist Interest. In the run-up to the main days of the festival (20–24 June), the city is decked out to host the traditional institutional events and the official opening speech.

Below is the official programme for Friday 5 June 2026, including precise timings, locations and parade routes:

Programme of Events – Friday, 5 June 2026

• 18:30 – Música per a una Festa (Music for a Festival)

  • Venue: ADDA car park (Alicante Provincial Council Auditorium), Paseo de Campoamor, s/n.

  • Details: A musical performance marking the festive and musical start of the celebrations.

• 19:00 – Tribute to the Foguerers and Barraquers who have passed away

  • Venue: Plaza de España, in front of the Foguerer Monument. Plaza de España

  • Details: A solemn and moving ceremony dedicated to the memory of those members of committees, barraques and artists who are no longer with us.

• 19:30 – Opening Address Procession

  • Route: Starting at Calle de San Vicente, continuing along Rambla de Méndez Núñez, Calle Rafael Altamira and ending at Plaza del Ayuntamiento.

  • Details: A parade steeped in tradition that winds its way through the historic centre of Alicante to accompany the official delegations to the doors of the town hall.

• 21:00 – Official Festival Proclamation

  • Venue: Balcony of Alicante Town Hall, Plaza del Ayuntamiento, 1.

  • Details: Reading of the proclamation officially marking the start of the city’s festivities from the main balcony of the Town Hall.

• 23:00 – Proclamation Party and Welcome to the Hogueras

  • Venue: The Ocean Race area, Port of Alicante. Muelle de Levante 10

  • Details: A grand evening celebration in the port area dedicated to The Ocean Race to officially welcome the month of the Hogueras.
