Cetasea Festival 2026: The Mediterranean and Marine Mammals

Alicante is set to become the epicentre of marine conservation with the staging of the Cetasea Festival 2026. Hosted at Casa Mediterráneo, this pioneering event brings together scientists, environmentalists, artists and marine enthusiasts to highlight, discuss and raise awareness of the diversity and protection of marine mammals in our region.

Over three days, the festival will offer a multidisciplinary programme designed for all audiences, combining scientific rigour with accessible outreach and art inspired by the Mediterranean marine ecosystem.

Highlights

  • Lectures and Round Tables: National and international experts will analyse the current status of cetacean populations in the Mediterranean, the main threats they face and active conservation projects.
  • Educational Workshops: Practical activities focused on gaining an up-close understanding of the marine mammal species that inhabit or pass through the coasts of the Valencian Community.
  • Exhibitions and Screenings: Artistic and documentary displays showcasing the beauty of deep-sea marine life and raising awareness of the need to protect our shared sea.

  • How to get there: You can walk from the city centre along the seafront promenade, or take the city bus routes with stops near the Bus Station, Oscar Esplá and Avenida de Elche.
  • Accessibility: The venue has adapted access for people with reduced mobility.
  • Price: Free entry until full capacity is reached.
  • Language: Activities will be conducted mainly in Spanish.
