Blessing of the animals (St. Anton)
The blessing of the pets is one of the most endearing moments of the festivities in honour of St Anton, patron saint of animals. Neighbours and visitors congregate in the Bullring accompanied by their dogs, cats, birds or any other species to receive the saint’s protection throughout the year. This act, full of devotion and affection, shows the importance that the city of Alicante gives to the care and respect of its pets.
