SoniArt 2026. Contemporary Music Series at MACA
The Museum of Contemporary Art of Alicante (MACA), in collaboration with the Cultural Association Música de Hoy, will host the sixth edition of SoniArt from 14 February to 28 November 2026. This concert series is devoted to contemporary music composed in the last decade of the 20th century and in the 21st century.
The cycle consists of six concerts throughout the year, accompanied by a range of parallel activities designed to bring contemporary musical creation closer to diverse audiences. SoniArt offers a journey through different sensibilities, languages and forms of interpretation, featuring leading figures from today’s compositional and performance scene.
In addition to the concerts, the programme includes open interviews with the guest artists, broadcast via Lumina Ensemble’s YouTube channel, as well as rehearsals open to the public, offering a close insight into the preparation and production process behind each performance.
As its main new feature, SoniArt incorporates an educational and promotional initiative aimed at students of the Guitarrista José Tomás Professional Conservatoire of Music in Alicante. This project, developed by composer Carlos Izquierdo in collaboration with Lumina Ensemble, will be presented at the closing concert of the cycle and will include the active participation of the students.
