Night of Candles in the Santa Cruz neighborhood

The iconic Santa Cruz neighbourhood in Alicante will experience a magical night on Saturday 18 October with the celebration of Candle Night, one of the most eagerly awaited events of the autumn in Alicante. Starting at 8:00 p.m., thousands of candles will light up its streets, balconies and corners, creating a trail of light, tradition and beauty that attracts numerous visitors every year.

The event offers a unique fusion of lighting, music, customs and popular spirituality, transforming the heart of the old town into a unique setting where history and devotion intertwine with art and emotion.

Programme of events

• 7:45 p.m. Opening ceremony by the queens of the Santa Cruz festivities.

• 8:00 p.m. Lighting of the candles and official start of Candle Night.

• Throughout the evening:

  • Live music at various locations throughout the neighbourhood.

  • Exhibition of the flower cross, a symbol of local tradition.

  • Hermitage of the Holy Cross open to the public for visits and contemplation.

The event invites you to stroll leisurely through the steep, decorated streets of the neighbourhood, enjoying the intimate atmosphere and charm of the Alicante night under the glow of the flames.
