Alicante once again hosts one of its most iconic summer sports and sociocultural events: the 96th edition of the Vuelta a la Escollera. Organized by the Department of Sports of the Alicante City Council, the Swimming Federation of the Valencian Community (FNCV), and the Club Natación Aquatic Alicante, this historical competition is considered the oldest open water swimming event in Spain, dating back to 1917.
Featuring a privileged route that skirts the port’s outer breakwater and finishes at the iconic Postiguet Beach, the swim brings together over 350 federated and amateur swimmers, offering a unique sporting spectacle along the seafront at the foot of Santa Bárbara Castle.
More than 350 swimmers will gather to cross our waters in a tradition dating back to 1917. A true nautical spectacle along the city’s seafront! 🌊🏆
