Porrate de San Antón 2026

Alicante opens the calendar of its traditional festivities with the celebration of the Porrate de San Antón, a festival with more than 150 years of history that fills the San Antón neighbourhood with activity and tradition from Friday 16 to Sunday 25 January 2026.
The main venues for the celebrations are the San Antón neighbourhood and the Alicante Bullring (Plaza de Toros).

Programme

Friday 16 January
• 9.00 pm – Opening proclamation in the marquee located in the Patio de Sol of the Alicante Bullring, delivered by the Councillor for Festivities, Cristina Cutanda. During the same event, the Adult and Child Ladies of San Antón will be officially proclaimed.

Saturday 17 January
• 7.30 pm – Procession of San Antón, with the Patron Saint carried on his throne, which will premiere new decorative skirts. During the route, a fireworks display will be set off in Plaza de La Pipa, followed by the traditional throwing of chickpeas.

Sunday 18 January
• 11.00 am – Traditional Descenso de Galeras along Cuesta de la Fábrica, decorated with paper flags and accompanied by dolçaina and tabalet musicians.

Friday 23 January
• 7.00 pm – Fancy dress competition in the Patio de Sol, followed by a parade through the neighbourhood.

Saturday 24 January
• 12.00 pm – Paella competition in Calle Sevilla.

Sunday 25 January
• 9.30 am – Mass at the Parish of La Misericordia.
• 10.15 am – Transfer of the image of San Antón to the Alicante Bullring.
• 10.30 am – Equestrian display.
• 12.00 pm – Traditional blessing of animals and pet competition, bringing the Porrate de San Antón 2026 to a close.

Traditional Festivities of Alicante

The Porrate de San Antón forms part of the Traditional Festivities of Alicante, which have been classified as Festivities of Local Interest since 2022.
The calendar of the Federation of Traditional Festivities, excluding the Porrate, is as follows:

• May Crosses (Cruces de Mayo): 30 April to 3 May

• Tabarca: 27 to 30 June, and 15–16 July

• San Gabriel: 22 to 26 July

• San Roque: 13 to 16 August

• Raval Roig: 3 to 8 September
