Concert: “Musical Instruments for the Music Salon: Pianoforte, Harp and Voice”
As part of the exhibition “From Word to Music: Historic Musical Instruments in Alicante”, currently on display at Santa Bárbara Castle, the concert “Musical Instruments for the Music Salon: Pianoforte, Harp and Voice” will take place on Saturday, 13 December at 5:00 p.m. in the Renaissance Cistern of the Baluarte de Santa Ana.
The performance will be given by José Manuel Calvo (pianoforte), Laura Martín (harp) and María José Peñalver (voice), who will present works by J.P. Esnaola, G.F. Handel, Naderman, W.A. Mozart, F. Máximo López, Hasselmans and G. Caccini. This concert is part of the exhibition’s complementary programme, which includes performances featuring some of the historical instruments showcased in the display.
Prior to the concert, at 4:00 p.m., visitors will have the opportunity to join a guided tour of the exhibition, which brings together around twenty instruments and technical treatises dating from the 16th to the 20th century, including one of the oldest guitars in the world. The tour will be led by Víctor J. Martínez López, researcher, musical instrument restorer and curator of the exhibition.
