CHRISTMAS IN ALICANTE<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Christmas in Alicante is one of the most heart-warming celebrations of the year, a period full of magic, tradition and special moments. From the end of November, the extraordinary switching on of the Christmas lights transforms the city into a luminous setting that invites you to enjoy every corner.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Among the main attractions is the majestic <\/span><\/span>Monumental Nativity Scene<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, recognised in the <\/span><\/span>Guinness Book of Records<\/span><\/span><\/em>, as well as the cosy <\/span><\/span>Casita de San Nicol\u00e1s<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, where children enjoy unforgettable experiences. The <\/span><\/span>Christmas Fair<\/span><\/span><\/strong> and the <\/span><\/span>Children’s Fair<\/span><\/span><\/strong> provide fun for all ages, while sports lovers will find their place in the <\/span><\/span>San Silvestre Solidarity Run<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, the <\/span><\/span>Navi Fitness<\/span><\/span><\/strong> or the <\/span><\/span>Christmas Crossing<\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Celebration in honour of Saint Nicholas<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Every 6th December, Alicante celebrates the feast day of its patron saint, Saint Nicholas. The day begins with a mass in the Co-Cathedral and continues with a solemn procession that culminates in the traditional Vow of the City<\/strong> to the saint.
\nThe day concludes with an impressive <\/span><\/span>Parade of Moors and Christians<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, which starts at the Plaza de los Luceros and ends at the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Monumental Nativity Scene<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The <\/span><\/span><\/span>Monumental Nativity Scene<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong> is one of the great attractions of Christmas in Alicante. Since 2019, it has been part of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Guinness Book of Records<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/em>. This nativity scene, featuring the Virgin Mary, the Baby Jesus, Saint Joseph and the Three Wise Men, is set up in the Town Hall square and is accompanied by majestic angels distributed throughout the city, creating a magical itinerary that can be visited from the end of November until <\/span><\/span><\/span>7 January<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Municipal Nativity Scene and Other Nativity Scenes<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The tradition of nativity scenes is one of the hallmarks of Christmas in Alicante. Of particular note is the <\/span><\/span>Municipal Nativity Scene<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, with large figures and biblical themes, installed in the Town Hall and created by the Association of Nativity Scene Makers of Alicante.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Other essential nativity scenes are the <\/span><\/span>Social Nativity Scene in Plaza de la Monta\u00f1eta<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, created by renowned nativity scene artists, and the one in the <\/span><\/span>Junta Mayor de Semana Santa<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, located in the Palacio El Portalet. All of them bring together handcrafted pieces that reflect the cultural essence of the city and the magic of the Adoration of the Magi. >.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
