SUMMARY:Solar Eclipse 2026 – Alicante
DESCRIPTION:\n\nDate: Wednesday, 12th August 2026\n\n\nEvent Schedule: 19:30 – 21:00 CEST\n\n\nThe Astronomical Event of the Year from the Alicante Coast\nOn 12th August 2026, Alicante will offer a prime viewpoint to witness one of the most breathtaking astronomical spectacles of the decade: an almost total solar eclipse at sunset.\nAlthough the path of totality crosses a strip of northern and central Spain, in Alicante we will experience an impressive 99.14% obscuration of the solar disc just before sunset.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPartial Eclipse Begins\n19:40:03 CEST\n\nFirst contact as the Moon begins to cross the solar disc.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMaximum Eclipse (99.14% Coverage)\n20:34:08 CEST\n\nPeak obscuration. The Sun will be low on the horizon at an altitude of 3.8° (Azimuth 285.9°).\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSunset\n20:59:06 CEST\n\nThe eclipsed Sun sets below the horizon.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEclipse Ends (Below Horizon)\n21:25:08 CEST\n\nFinal contact occurs out of view after sunset. Total duration: 1 hour 45 minutes.\n\n\n\n\n\nViewing Guidelines & Eye Safety\n\n\nMandatory Eye Protection: Never look directly at the Sun without certified solar eclipse glasses (ISO 12312-2) or proper solar filters for cameras and telescopes. Regular sunglasses do not provide protection.\n\n\nPlan Ahead: Popular vantage points are expected to be busy, so arriving well in advance is highly recommended.\n\n\n
