DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY 7 AUGUST\nDANNY BOY BLUES BAND & PABLO SANPA\nDanny Boy, harmonica and vocals (Valencia), and Pablo Sanpa, guitar (Madrid), two of Spain’s leading blues artists, have come together on this occasion to present their new show.\nTheir collaboration, forged over more than a decade, results in a solid and vibrant live performance, in which they distil the most authentic essence of the blues and R&B.\nTheir repertoire spans various styles of traditional African-American music, from the sounds of Chicago and Texas to the more danceable Jump Blues of the West Coast.\nThey are accompanied by Fran Moreno (Altea) on bass and John Craver (Santa Cruz, California) on drums, completing a line-up that stands out for its energy, chemistry and respect for the genre.\n\nFRIDAY 14 AUGUST\nEVA ROMERO & GYPSY SWING QUINTET\nA band drawing on influences from Gypsy Jazz, Swing and Blues, who will accompany the great singer Eva Romero with original arrangements of classic songs from the genre.\n\nFRIDAY 21 AUGUST\nTHE SARA GEE & RAMBLIN’ MATT BAND\nSara Gee & Ramblin’ Matt formed in 2013, when their paths crossed, and are self-confessed lovers of old-school blues, outlaw country and good old rock ’n’ roll.\nThey perform their own original material, interspersed with covers of songs by other artists such as Memphis Minnie, Hank Williams, Big Mama Thornton, Lou Anne Barton and Johnny Cash.\nThey have several albums to their name and have played hundreds of gigs across Spain, as well as a ten-date tour of South Africa in 2023.\n\nFRIDAY 28 AUGUST\nRAMBLA JAZZ BAND. “WOMEN WITH LOTS OF JAZZ”\nWe’ll be taking a look at the major contributions to jazz made by female composers and performers, from María Grever to Nina Simone, including Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.\n\nEvery Friday, from 7.30 pm, the refreshment area will be open, serving drinks and snacks.\nAdmission to the concerts will begin at 8.30 pm.\nOrganised by: Sociedad Blues Alicante, Societat Unió Musical d’Alcoi and Las Cigarreras.\n\nJardín Vertical.
